Events & Workshop Assistant Coordinator

Job summary

The role will be coordinating and assisting with the execution of new art workshops and events. You will learn how to research and plan events/workshops as well as communicating with artists and other professionals.

Modece Architects are an award-winning architectural practice established in 1985. The practice is based in The Old Fox Yard in Stowmarket. The Old Fox Yard is a historic inn with courtyard, now home to 8 businesses. We are in the process of converting the yard into Stowmarket’s Design Quarter; a place for design and artistic individuals and businesses to work and collaborate.

Fox Yard Studio is a new and dynamic art space located in the heart of Stowmarket. Our aim is to provide a place that allows people to be creative and learn new skills by providing workshops and educational talks. Now more than ever there is a huge need for community involvement and self-expression. With mental health issues at the forefront, a space needs to be created to bring people together and help each other realise our highest potential as individuals and as a community. Fox Yard Studio is a space where people can come to share what they know, socialise, learn new skills, and experience art made by local makers.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

We are looking for someone who can work well with other people as you will generally be working closely with colleagues. You will have an interest and some skill/ability in art and/or design. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, organisational skills, problem solving and presentation skills.

Other Opportunities

There will also be opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the practice and the wider Fox Yard Design community as a volunteer on non-working days, e.g. helping out at community events, and the chance to get involved in other enrichment activities (e.g. visits and talks).

As a joint collective, all roles will be involved within an ongoing wider production of a single ‘atlas’ document, in which we will be carefully curating individuals work and assembling it into a single, presentable document for future job prospects.
