Successful bid! Awarded new works for the Food Museum's Kitchen Project

Bringing history to life! Modece Architects is proud to be involved in the exciting revitalisation of the Food Museum in Stowmarket.

In 2022, we were awarded the works for Phase I of the Museum’s long-term regeneration plan, focusing on essential restorations and improvements at this stunning 84-acre site.

We are currently working on:

  • Restoration of the Museum's Grade II Listed Abbots Hall, Victorian Stables, and Fishing Pond.

  • Building two new restroom extensions to enhance accessibility for all visitors.

  • A complete revamp of the Collections' Store building, housing an impressive 40,000 collection items.

  • Construction of a beautiful new oak footbridge crossing the historical Fishing Pond.

  • Re-erection of the historical 14th-century Edgar's Farmhouse.

Earlier in 2024, we entered a bid competition for Phase II: The Kitchen Project - and are thrilled to have been successfully awarded with these works!

The Kitchen Project aligns with the Food Museum's GROW - MAKE - EAT theme, aiming to breathe new life into a further three buildings on-site. Visitors can expect immersive historical experiences, such as an exhibition showcasing kitchens through the ages.

We are currently in the design phase of this exciting new set of works and can't wait to share more details soon!
