A one-day family festival celebrating Stowmarket’s past, present and future. The Time Machine festival took place on the 9th of October 2021, bringing together cultural organisations across Stowmarket during one full day of events for the community to create and share in 6 events around the town.
Modece, with partners, organised 3 events during this day including the “Dreams for the future of the town”, “History of the Old Fox Yard” and the launching of the project for the Stowmarket Library garden “Stitching Stowe”.
Stitching Stowe
In collaboration with Fox Yard Studio and Suffolk libraries
The library’s garden project, Stitching Stowe, brought together the town’s knowledge, inspiration, hopes and even differences to create a tapestry of inclusivity and collaboration. Much like the thread that binds the pages of a book, there is a thread that runs through the community at Stowmarket, binding those who live here to the history, the story, of the place.
The history of the Old Fox Yard
To celebrate the history of the Old Fox Yard, Modece filled its windows with photos and information, not only of the rich history of the space but also the changes it’s gone through and how the Old Fox Yard has been transformed over the year, showcasing a video of the process as well.
Dreams for the future town
In collaboration with Fox Yard Studio
Dreams for the future town included an exhibition of artwork and stories from the public and local community members organised by Fox Yard Studio. It also invited people to join and write, draw and stitch to contribute to a larger piece of art being created. The brief asked for memories or dreams for the future of the town, of which the final piece was exhibited in the gallery. Building on the theme of the wish tree, a large tapestry of what people created was stitched together.
